Of course, our NetDescribe team was live at Splunk .conf23 in Las Vegas again this year. But this time, the popular Splunk Show wasn’t the only “place to be”. At the same time, the first CriblCon attracted its fans to the MIRAGE Hotel. Here are our highlights of the two events for those who couldn’t travel to “Sin City” in person.

Since 2010, international Splunk enthusiasts from the fields of IT, security and DevOps have been coming together for a few days each year to exchange ideas and celebrate the community. CribleCon took place in Vegas for the first time in 2023.

The focus of Splunk .conf23 was: “Building digital resilience with Splunk – Security and Observability”
Our highlights – a brief overview: Announcement of a strategic partnership with Microsoft to promote digital resilience. Splunk customers using Microsoft Azure can use Splunk as part of their cloud strategy. Splunk’s offerings for Enterprise Security and Observability on Microsoft Azure are being built and Splunk solutions will also be available for purchase on the Microsoft Azure Marketplace for the first time.

Splunk Attack Analyzer – uncover complex attack chains and optimize analysis
New to the Splunk universe are Edge Processor for flexible filtering, masking and with routing functions for your growing data volumes.

A hardware device, Splunk Edge Hub, was also introduced. Specially configured for integration into your Splunk-based IoT solutions, Edge Hub collects sensor data and streams the data into your Splunk platform instance.

Artificial Intelligence was of course also a must. Splunk uses AI, among other things, to accelerate the detection and investigation of anomalies and the response to them.

By the way, the next Splunk .conf24 will again take place in June. The July date with temperatures above 45 degrees was a sweaty affair even in Las Vegas

A second top event was offered to our team at the same time in Las Vegas:

The CriblCon 2023 took place for the first time on July 17th at The Mirage in Las Vegas. Cribl, a company founded in 2017, focuses on data analysis with its product Cribl Stream.

Exciting presentations of product innovations, such as Cribl Search and customer presentations with tips and best practices on the products Stream and Edge were celebrated by more than 400 users.
Cribl Stream is an important new addition to the NetDescribe portfolio.

A vendor-independent observability pipeline that gives you the flexibility to collect, reduce, enrich, normalize, and route data from any source to any destination within your existing data infrastructure. Machine data can be routed from any source to any destination, transformed as needed, and enriched with additional context. Features for masking and encrypting individual elements are configured via an intuitive user interface.
More information about Cribl Stream will be available here on our website shortly.
